A follow focus is used on video camera to allow the operator to change the focus manually in a smooth fashion. I'm using a similar setup on the zoom ring so that I can control the zoom. The follow focus is made with a small embroidery hoop, wrapped in leather so it just fits over the 14-54mm lens, and two leather traps that when pulled will zoom the lens.
