Pictures disguising my camera as something else, 2013 version. (38 pictures)

For some time now, I've had this obscession with disguising my cameras as view cameras used by news photographers in the 1930's and 1940's (normally Speed Graphics). I've gone from putting my Olympus E-P2 inside of a 1915 Kodak Pony Premo 5x7 body to building a case around my larger cameras (Olympus E-3 and then E-5), and then a smaller box around my Olympus E-PM2. I've gone through several iterations of the camera shell, and this album attempts to document the various iterations that I've done in 2013.

Previous versions of the setup are described in:

The silver lever is a follow focus lever I got from the ebay seller psproductionsllc.

The leather case is a Gariz XS-CHEPM2BR half leather case that I bought for my Olympus E-PM2. It has a metal base, and an opening in the base for changing the memory card and battery without taking off the case. I can attach the Olympus combination cable to the camera when it is in the case, so I can use a remote shutter release.

The long cut on the side is for the follow focus lever. Unfortunately, I cut it in the wrong direction originally, and it is a bit wider than it needs to be.

The top left hand cut out is for pressing the shutter release button.

The left side cut is to allow the shutter release cable to be connected.

Pictures of disguising my TG-2 as a travel suitcase (13 pictures)

I discovered A. C. Moore had some cheap basswood boxes that looked like suitcases, and they were just the right size to house my Olympus TG-2 camera that I had bought as a travel camera. So I made my travel camera suitcase camera. I went through 5 boxes, in the process of doing the modifications.

On the 5th build, I used some teak veneer I had bought several years ago. I photocopied the TG-2 front and back, so I could position the camera in the box, and I used a portable hole saw and Bosch Colt router to make the cuts. In order to put holes for doing the shutter release and power on, I needed to relocate the handle to the back of the box.
